For what it is worth, my granny always made us drink a glass of warm water to keep things regular. She was kind of poo obsessed (she would greet you with "did you poop today?" where most people just say hello).
Don't let those bossy nurses guilt you-they know perfectly well that children this age get their weird food likes/refusals.
Try making her eat peas...I swear, you'll regret it. But she'll poo.
And I'm with you on calling those 1-800 numbers for nurses. Trust me, I had a heart attack when one of them told me my child could be in "Distess" and I raced her to the hospital, only to be told, once there, that my kid had a "cold."
